Exchanges like Coinbase also profited through the means of transaction fees and withdrawal fees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>What Caused Bitcoin Price to Drop?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">As reported by a Twitter bot that tracks crypto-whales, a large bitcoin whale moved approximately 25,000 bitcoin($215 million), from an off-exchange wallet to the Coinbase wallet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.blockchainappfactory.com\/cryptocurrency-exchange-software\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1799 \" src=\"https:\/\/blockchainappfactory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Blockchain_App_Factory-300x163.jpg\" alt=\"Cryptocurrency Exchange\" width=\"795\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.blockchainappfactory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Blockchain_App_Factory-300x163.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.blockchainappfactory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Blockchain_App_Factory-768x417.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.blockchainappfactory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Blockchain_App_Factory-1024x556.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.blockchainappfactory.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Blockchain_App_Factory.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 795px) 100vw, 795px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>This caused the prices to fall, due to the influx of supply. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Within minutes, 14,000 bitcoins ($112 Million) were moved from the Coinbase wallet to the off-exchange wallet, then again an additional 11,000 bitcoins ($88 Million) were moved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>This causes pumping of price due to the artificial demand created in the Exchange. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Simple Math would say that the whale sold for $215 Million and bought it back for $200 million, thereby, making a profit of $15 million, while retaining the 25,000 bitcoins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>How did the Exchanges benefit?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Exchanges charge The three types of fees are: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>Deposit &amp; Withdrawal Fees<\/strong> &#8211; Even if 0.1% is considered for deposit and withdrawal each, Coinbase made more than $4 million within a few minutes through deposit and withdrawal fees. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">In totality, around $25 Billion was dumped and pumped. Thereby, exchanges made around $400 Million only on deposit and withdrawal fees. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>Transactions Fees<\/strong> &#8211; An exchange charges a transaction-fee and with every transaction, exchanges earn revenue. If you consider 0.1% of total transactions, then exchanges earn another $250 Million of transaction fees. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"><strong>Commissions<\/strong> &#8211; This is charged by exchanges to the sellers of the cryptocurrency. Anything around 0.1% to 0.3% is charged.
